La prima e unica volta che ho incontrato Davide eravamo in coda dall'unico kebbabaro aperto di Umbertide una sera d'estate. Lì, tra i fumi delle griglie, mi sono ricordato quanto fosse bravo a fotografare la sua città, Rimini, un luogo ricco di dicotomie, spazi vissuti ogni estate e abbandonati ogni inverno, dove chi ci vive facilmente trova ossessioni in questo immaginario tra la cartolina e la carta straccia. Con questo libro, Catalogo Iconografico Riminese, abbiamo voluto concentrarci sui simboli che questa città ha scelto di usare come facciata: insegne lasciate cuocere al sole, ricordi di bar e stabilimenti balneari, disegni, colori accesi e una grande bottiglia di Coca-Cola.

The first and only time I met Davide we were in line at the only open kebab shop in Umbertide one summer evening. There, amid the fumes of the grills, I remembered how good he was at photographing his city, Rimini, a place full of dichotomies, spaces lived in every summer and abandoned every winter, where those who live there easily find obsessions in this imagery between postcard and scrap paper. With this book, Riminese Iconographic Catalogue, we wanted to focus on the symbols this city has chosen to use as a façade: signs left to bake in the sun, memories of bars and seaside resorts, drawings, bright colors and a big bottle of Coke.

Godai Miura is nothing short of a wonder. Stumbling upon his Instagram you would expect him to have a bajillion followers: his photos are beautifully composed, often funny, sometimes melancholic portraits of the people of Yokohama, his hometown. All shot in glorious medium format, people and landscapes blend in what are both portraits of people and portraits of the city, one influencing the other in an endless cicle that repeats itself everyday, just like life.

日常の中に非日常が隠れている。
多くの人は気づかないが、写真なら伝えることができる。
The extraordinary is hidden in the daily life.
Many people don't notice, but photos can tell.
Godai's body of work is already incredible, but it feels like it just begun. Years will go by, people will come and go and hopefully he'll be there, making sure none of that will be forgotten.

Con lo sguardo perso nelle vaste spiagge del Kent e dei Lidi Ferraresi, Claudia Baldassarra ci accompagna in alcune delle sue (forse) pensierose e (sicuramente) ventose passeggiate sulla sabbia, in un bianco e nero grezzo e suggestivo che, unito alle sue parole, riesce a trasportare lo spettatore in un tempo indefinito, tra il ricordo malinconico di un'estate passata e il desiderio di solitudine.

With a gaze lost in the vast beaches of Kent and Lidi Ferraresi, Claudia Baldassarra takes us with her on some of her (maybe) pensive and (definitely) windy walks on the sand, with a raw and evocative black and white that, along with her words, is able to send the audience in an undefined time, between the gloomy memory of a past summer and the desire of solitude.

Roberto Delfino nella vita fa il tecnico impiantista navale, il che significa che ogni tanto prende e va a fare sopralluoghi su navi sparse per il globo. Un'occasione unica e un privilegio per chi, come lui, è anche un amante della pellicola, che sia 35mm o medio formato. Le sue foto sono ricordi in un diario che va avanti da anni, riempito di immagini senza alcun limite geografico, dalla vicina Marsiglia fino alle coste del Giappone, a bordo di navi più grandi della vita stessa, tra il lavoro e la meraviglia. L'immagine di copertina parla da sola: un uomo, probabilmente un uomo d'affari, guarda il mare su una ventosa spiaggia francese. Come in un film di Kitano, i problemi sono alle spalle.

In the everyday life Roberto Delfino is a naval expert, meaning that sometimes he just takes and goes surveying ships all around the globe. An unique opportunity and a privilege for a person that is also enthusiastic about film photography, both 35mm and medium format. His photographs are memories in a diary started years ago, filled with images without any geographical limit, from the near Marseille to the coasts of Japan, on ships bigger than life, between work and astonishment. The photo on the cover speaks for itself: a man, probably a businessman, gazes at the sea on a windy beach in France. Like a Kitano film, the problems are left behind.

Diviso tra le province di Frosinone e Latina, il lavoro di Giulia Galeno è un invito a rallentare e guardarsi intorno mentre percorriamo le strade di tutti i giorni. Perdersi nel solito e nella monotonia è semplice, ma basta un oggetto fuori posto per ritornare alla realtà e stupirsi un po'.

Divided between the provinces of Frosinone and Latina, the work of Giulia Galeno is an invitation to slow down and look around while we take the same roads every day. It's easy to get lost in monotony, but it doesn't take more than a misplaced object to get back to reality and be surprised.
